Wohlmuth - Phyllit Sauvignon Blanc 2024 (750ml)

We recently had the opportunity to taste this elegant Sauvignon Blanc from Weingut Wohlmuth.  It is a complex, terroir-driven wine featuring spicy, slightly smoky, multi-layered aromas with a pale yellow-green hue. Grown on steep Paleozoic shale slopes of 40 to 60 degrees, it undergoes very late, selective hand-harvesting, brief skin contact, spontaneous fermentation in used wooden barrels, and six months aging on the lees, resulting in a refined, balanced profile. Its flavor combines meadow herbs, guava, citrus, and white stone fruits, complemented by a salty, lemony finish, making it versatile for pairing with asparagus, seafood, chicken or spicy appetizers. Crafted with eco-friendly practices, this wine exemplifies complexity and elegance, highlighting the strong expression of its unique Austrian, high- altitude (400 to 540 meters) terroir.
