"The 2021 Chardonnay Charlie Smith would give a top White Burgundy a run for its money. Light gold-hued with medium to full-bodied aromas and flavors of ripe pears, white currants, chalky minerality, and ample white flower notes, this beauty is incredibly well balanced, has integrated acidity, and a concentrated, powerful, yet still vibrant style that's such a joy to drink. I think it will age, but I love it today as well."

"Just two barrels were produced of this full-bodied Chardonnay from the Charles Smith Vineyard on the Sonoma side of the Mayacamas Mountains at around 487m. It’s got a lot of verve, energy and drive, leading with sea spray aromatics, salted lemon peel, grapefruit zest, and apricot. Rich and full-bodied, marked with sweet oak spices, dried mango, oyster shell, white flowers and a lengthy finish of honeycomb and crushed almonds. For all its weight and texture, it's supported by a frame of zesty acidity. Patria is the personal label of consultant winemaker Tony Biagi, who makes Amici and Hourglass, among several others."

"The 2021 Chardonnay Charlie Smith Vineyard emerges from a top site on Moon Mountain planted by Phil Coturri with shot Wente Clone Chardonnay. Rich, ample and potent, the 2021 is endowed with serious mountain structure. Citrus confit, marzipan, chamomile and white flowers all build in this creamy, layered Chardonnay. The 2021 spent 15 months in French oak, 40% new."
