“Laurent Juillot’s Clos Tonnerre is also planted to old vines as they were sixty-four years of age in the 2022 vintage.  The wine tips the scales at fourteen percent in this vintage and delivers a pure and utterly refined bouquet of red and black cherries, plums, raw cocoa, gamebird, a touch of nutskin, a beautifully complex base of soil, peonies, a whisper of fresh thyme, cedar and a gently smoky topnote.  On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and tangy, with a great core of fruit, superb soil transparency and grip, ripe, buried tannins and great backlift on the long, complex and impeccably balanced finish.  This is simply outstanding young red Burgundy!”
