"Like following a winding trail through the forest, this Monvigliero unfolds with purpose and precision. Fresh-crushed cherries and strawberry preserves lead the way, while wild violets and roses scatter their petals across a well-worn hiking path dotted with alpine herbs. The structure speaks of generations of knowledge, firm tannins and bright acidity working in harmony like trail markers guiding you home. Here's proof that when passion meets tradition, something truly timeless emerges from the cellar." (JP)

The 2021 Barolo Monvigliero is one of the best wines I have tasted from Fratelli Alessandria in some time. The aromatics alone are haunting in their beauty. Rose petal, tangerine peel, cinnamon, kirsch, pomegranate and mint explode from the glass. Beams of supporting tannin give the wine its vertical build. This is such a promising Barolo. It could very well turn out to be one of the wines of the vintage. (AG)

"The bright ruby 2021 Barolo Monvigliero is a sporty wine, focused and lifted on the nose with notes of cranberries, cinnamon, rhubarb, and orange zest, and as it opens, it softens a little to pretty strawberry fruit and floral aromas. The palate is equally focused and energetic, with compact tension, fine tannins, ripe, energetic acidity, and a detailed saline finish. It’s long on the palate, racy, and refined, and I expect it to benefit from time in bottle as it fleshes out a bit." (AF)

"Fratelli Alessandria started bottling Monvigliero back in 1978. The 2021 Barolo Monvigliero (with 7,000 bottles released) is a wine of extreme elegance and grace. It shows wild berry, redcurrant, lilac and light spice. Fruit comes from a 1.4-hectare plot with south and southwest exposures on silty limestone soils. There is a pretty note of floral sweetness over polished tannins that makes for a lasting impression." (ML)
