"Lastly, both reds I was able to taste from bottle showed brilliantly. The slightly larger production 2019 Saint Joseph has a Côte Rôtie-like perfume of black raspberries, blackberries, flowers, new leather, and pepper, and it has good acidity, medium to full body, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming 10-12 years."

"Deep, vivid ruby. Fresh, spice-accented red and blue fruits and candied flowers on the expansive nose. Offers appealingly sweet and juicy cherry and blueberry flavors, along with suggestions of licorice, cracked pepper and olive. The spice and floral notes drive a long, smooth finish that features well-judged tannins and a lingering kirsch flourish."

"A bit darker in hue and fruit than the fun, charming 2018, Perret's 2019 Saint Joseph verges on being too serious, with a dusty touch of tannin on the finish. Smoky and spicy up front, with notes of black cherries and cassis, it's full-bodied, rich and velvety, easily capable of aging a few years and drinking well through 2030 or so."
