Decanter - 97 Points! - "A seamless on-song Bordeaux style blend, yet with much more ripeness and juicy fruit gum character. Monumental depth of character which is enhanced by well-managed oak that is adroitly integrated with the silky tannins to give a fresh, elegant finish. Very complete, nuanced, long and beautifully balanced. Pitch-perfect now but still lots of life ahead. Excellent release."

Domaine de Baronarques is a very old estate with a rich history in the region, dating back at least to the 17th Century, when it was called Domaine de Lambert. At the time, the estate belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Polycarpe, a village near Limoux in the Aude department of Southern France. After changing hands several times, the estate was sold to Michel Tisseyre in 1875. The Tisseyre family extended the vineyard – it covered 120 acres in 1910 – and between 1890 and 1900 built themselves an attractive residence with a terrace and a garden.
In 1998 Mr. Chéreau, a Marseilles lawyer and heir of the estate, sold it to Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and her two sons. The estate was very run down, calling for extensive renovation of the vineyard and the winemaking facilities, a process that took five years.
In 2003, Domaine de Baronarques benefited from a fortunate conjunction of circumstances: the wine proved to be of very high quality and the Domaine was awarded the AOC Limoux rouge appellation, newly created by the Institut National des Appellations d’Origine (INAO). Domaine de Baron'arques could take its rightful place alongside the family’s other estates, including the illustrious Château Mouton Rothschild.
This wine is of the best Bordeaux blends on the market for the price. The 2016 pours an attractive, dense red with a garnet tint. The nose opens on fragrant, juicy, fresh fruit notes with airing, subtle spice and chocolate aromas bring a certain succulence. After a fresh and well-structured opening, refined, silky tannins emerge on the full and dense mid-palate, while crushed blackcurrant, cocoa, leather, earthy tobacco, and barrel spice giving the wine excellent length. The flavors linger on the remarkably long, with a harmonious and balanced finish. The price to quaity ratio here is remarkable - Rothschild expert winemaking at a Languedoc price point!

J.L. Chave Sélection - Côtes du Rhône 'Mon Coeur' 2020
An Outstanding Example of Classic Rhone Expression from One of the Regions True Icons
This is a wine I've always enjoyed. J.L. Chave's 'Mon Coeur' serves as a clear expression of the Rhone Valley as a whole, and this new vintage is another gem. Made of approximately equal parts Syrah and Grenache with vines age between 20-60 years old, sourced from select vineyards around the Northern Rhone growing region, and made by the legendary 16 generation Chave family. The wine is distinctly Chave, with aromas of smokey blueberries, leather, briny olive, crushed violets, and exotic spices. On the palate it's lively and fresh, texture is refined and well structured with flavors of blackberry, espresso, fresh herbs, with a lasting finish rich with earth and smoky spice. An excellent accompaniment to your favorite cheeses and charcuterie. Believe me when we say this drinks well above its price point!
