JD94/JS95/WE93 Jeb Dunnuck - 94 Points - "The second wine of this terrific estate in the Graves region of Bordeaux, the 2018 L'Esprit De Chevalier checks in as a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot that will spend 14 months in barrel. It offers a full-bodied, rounded, incredibly satisfying and sexy style as well as some exotic characteristics in its kirsch, blackcurrant, orange blossom, and liquid violet-like aromas and flavors. Elegant yet with ample fruit and texture, it’s ideal for drinking over the coming decade or more." Newsletter Special - $29.99
Bodegas Ondarre - Rioja Gran Reserva, Spain 2011 93 Points - International Wine Competition The Ondarre Gran Reserva is easily one of the greatest values out of Rioja. A complex wine with mature aromas of rich blueberries, dark chocolate, earthy leather, coconut, and a depth of barrel spice which warms the palate and rounds out the brightness of the fruit. This Gran Reserva represents only the finest fruit of the vintage, aged in barrel for 28 months and bottle conditioned for an additional 32 months, the emphasis on quality through patience is paramount. This wine is drinking absolutely fantastic with 11 years of age, a true no-brainer best buy under $20. Newsletter Special - $16.99
Dönnhoff - Riesling "Tonschiefer" Trocken (Dry), Nahe, Germany 2020 WA93/JS93 Wine Advocate 93 Points - "Predominantly from the Leistenberg plus first selections of the local crus, the 2020 Riesling Tonschiefer opens enormously pure and stony as well as citric on the earthy nose that is a terrific representative for the clayish slate terroir. Complex and juicy on the palate, this is a tensioned, finely reductive yet very intense and structured dry Riesling with fine phenolic grip and an expressive finish with salty-piquant and phenolic acidity. An impressive wine. 12% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in July 2021." Newsletter Special - $24.99
La Gerla - Toscana 'Poggio Gli Angeli', Tuscany 2019 Incredible Quality "Baby" Brunello from the Notable 2019 Vintage - Made from Vineyards Previously Owned by Biondi-Santi! Talk about a wine that overdelivers, the 2019 La Gerla "Poggio Gli Angeli" packs all the punch of Brunello di Montalcino but at the price of a Rosso. Made from younger vines (appx 15 yrs), this 100% Sangiovese represents the incredible potential of the 2019 vintage, packing all the power of Brunello into a ready to drink daily sipper - this is a lot of wine for $16! Expect elevated flavors of crushed roses, wild strawberry, dusty earth, with hints of blue fruit and savory herbs. The palate is silky smooth with great energy and poise - we were very impressed. Newsletter Special - $15.99
Chateau Poesia - St. Emilion Grand Cru - Bordeaux - 2019 Vinous Media - 96 Points! "The 2019 Poesia is one of the finest wines I have ever tasted from Hélène and Patrice Lévêque. Rich and sumptuous, Poesia marries intensity with vibrancy in grand style. Poesia is a big, explosive Saint-Émilion, but it also possesses tremendous energy. Dark fruit, gravel, incense, spice and saddle leather open with a bit of coaxing. There is an exotic quality to Poesia in 2019 that is especially alluring. Brilliant." -Antonio Galloni Newsletter Special - $38.99
Morgen Long - Chardonnay "Marine" Willamette Valley 2019 Long has found his own groove with Chardonnay, pursuing a leaner style, focused with lively acidity and an abundance of nuance. With such small production (only 295 cases) the attention to detail on these wines are paramount. Long has created a seriously amazing value, case-worthy, everyday drinking chardonnay, at $24.99 this is priced well below its level of quality and complexity. When people ask what we're drinking, this is surely on the list of favorites amongst the Plucky crew, we all agree Chardonnay from Willamette has a bright future. Tasting Notes: Complex aromas of fresh yellow flowers, green mango, guava, lemongrass, wet minerals, straw and hazelnuts. Ripe flavors with weight are more central than the crisp, shimmering minerality as good acidity melds into a soft texture and nice finish. Newsletter Special - $24.99
Special Offers Château Malescot-St.-Exupéry - Margaux 2018 Wine Spectator: 95 Points - Lovely, with gently mulled plum, blackberry and black currant fruit sailing through atop a velvety structure while mouthwatering bay, black tea and iron notes flow underneath. Seductive, detailed finish lets a sanguine note echo longest. Gorgeous wine. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2023 through 2036. 9,183 cases made. — JM Special Offer - $64.99
Domaine Courbis - Cornas La Sabarotte 2019 Vinous: 96 Points - Ripe blackberry and cherry aromas are complicated by suggestions of exotic spices, olive, vanilla and pungent flowers. Youthfully chewy, appealingly sweet black and blue fruit flavors gain depth and spiciness with air, while a smoky mineral element adds lift and back-end cut. Building tannins add grip to an impressively long, floral-driven finish that leaves allspice and cola notes behind. Special Offer - $89.99
Shafer - Chardonnay Red Shoulder Ranch 2019 Jeb Dunnuck: 94-96 Points - I've always loved the Chardonnay from this team, and their 2019 Chardonnay Red Shoulder Ranch has that classic richer, full-bodied style while staying balanced and light on its feet. Buttered lemons, tangerines, green almond, and toasty notes all make an appearance, and it's incredibly textured, with nicely integrated acidity and one heck of a finish. This powerful Chardonnay is going to impress right out of the gate. Special Offer - $49.99
