Beautiful, Affordable Dry Riesling from One of Germany's Best Limited Offer Weingut Keller 2018 Riesling Von der Fels “If I had to choose one wine to show how great dry German Riesling can be I would choose a Keller Riesling. Click here for our complete Keller Inventory With only a handful of cases arriving later this week (and another small allocation in the Fall), we are offering this super bargain first to only a select few loyal Riesling buyers on our list. This lovely refreshing dry Riesling is sourced from grapes grown in a selection of Keller's Grosses Gewachs sites -Kirchspiel, Hubacker, AbtsE and Morstein - wines that can now set you back well over $100 per bottle if you can find them. The 2018 von der Fels is a solid step up from the delicious Estate Trocken (great in its own right!), offering a glimpse into the genius of this young winemaker at a fraction of the price of his top wines,
Essentially it's a declassified Grand Cru - brilliant and classy, a polished wine that is packed with beautiful green apple, citrus and lime notes, with hints of fresh herbs and pure stony minerality. This is a perfect summer quaff and THE perfect introduction to the unbearable lightness of Riesling! Food friendly and versatile, it will compliment anything from chilled seafood, shellfish, salads, appetizers, mild fish, and Asian cuisine. Drink now 2025+" Chris Cree MW, Plucky Wines Cellar Note
Klaus Peter and Julia Keller ___________________________________________________________________________ Ever since British wine critic and Master of Wine Jancis Robinson anointed Klaus Peter Keller's stunning Rieslings with the Grand Cru "Montrachet" moniker, they have been treated with nearly cult status by the wine cognoscenti. Top Sommeliers from the best restaurants in the country lineup for their miserly allocations of Keller's Grosses Gewachs' for their wine lists, and collectors snap them up like Comte Lafond or Raveneau Burgundies. In 2012, Keller produced wine for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee - that is rock-star status! The bad news in all this fame is that the prices for the top wines from this over-achieving estate have climbed to match their stardom (in 2010, their sought after G-Max became the most expensive dry Riesling ever auctioned). While still a bargain compared to their Burgundian cult counterparts, Keller's top wines are now well past the $100 per bottle mark. The good news is that Klaus Peter and his wife Julia make a number of stunning bargains as well as their top GG wines. Fashioned with the same care and detail as their pricier counterparts, they capture the pure, detailed nature of the wines from this estate at a fraction of the price, making them some of the best values in Riesling on the market. The magic here is Klaus Peter's ability to coax beautifully powerful and intense wines from his vineyards, while retaining crystal clear brilliance, precision, minerality and focus. The two wines we are offering today are perfect expressions of this mastery: crisp, dry and mineral, with hints of citrus and apple and lovely stony textural notes. If you love dry, refreshing, mineral driven Riesling, you absolutely owe it to yourself to get on board the Keller bandwagon. Wine arrives later this week, and are perfect for summer sipping, with salads, seafood, sushi, all kinds of appetizers or all on their own on a hot summer afternoon.
