Morgen Long - Chardonnay "Marine" Willamette Valley 2019 Long has found his own groove with Chardonnay, pursuing a leaner style, focused with lively acidity and an abundance of nuance. With such small production (only 295 cases) the attention to detail on these wines are paramount. Long has created a seriously amazing value, case-worthy, everyday drinking chardonnay, at $24.99 this is priced well below its level of quality and complexity. When people ask what we're drinking, this is surely on the list of favorites amongst the Plucky crew, we all agree Chardonnay from Willamette has a bright future. Tasting Notes: Complex aromas of fresh yellow flowers, green mango, guava, lemongrass, wet minerals, straw and hazelnuts. Ripe flavors with weight are more central than the crisp, shimmering minerality as good acidity melds into a soft texture and nice finish. Newsletter Special - $24.99 "It's clear that he has worked alongside people that know how to make great wine and now it is about to benefit Oregon. Look out for this guy." - Neal Martin, Wine Advocate John Gilman, A View from the Cellar - 92+ :“The composition this year is sixty percent grapes from the Loubejac Vineyard and forty percent from the Yamhill Vineyard. Fermentation for both lots started in stainless steel and was finished in barrel. As is customary with Seth’s chardonnays, the wines spent one year in cask and then were assembled in tank for six more months of finishing elevage. The wine ended up seeing fifteen percent new oak and comes in at 13.2 percent alcohol in 2019. The nose jumps from the glass in a mix of apple, pear, almond blossoms, a touch of lime peel, a lovely base of soil, hazelnut and a faint touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is elegant, full-bodied, complex and beautifully balanced, with fine depth at the core, superb transparency and bounce, zesty acids and a long finish.” John Gilman About Seth Morgen Long: Seth Morgen Long is a young Oregon winemaker who focuses on site-driven Willamette Valley Chardonnay under the label, Morgen Long. After gaining a certification as Sommelier in 2009 and 2010, he created various opportunities to travel the world to discover the craft of winemaking from the inside out. Before starting Morgen Long in 2014, he worked with winemakers in the Willamette Valley, Oregon (2009, 2010, 2011), Central Otago, New Zealand (2011), Santa Cruz Mountains, California (2011) and in Meursault, Burgundy, France (2012, 2013). He is obsessive about Chardonnay and values deep ecology, approaching winemaking with the view that thoughtful, ethical decisions in the vineyard and attention to details in the winery allow for wine to be both delicious as well as authentic and transparent. Chateau Poesia - St. Emilion Grand Cru - Bordeaux - 2019 Vinous Media - 96 Points! "The 2019 Poesia is one of the finest wines I have ever tasted from Hélène and Patrice Lévêque. Rich and sumptuous, Poesia marries intensity with vibrancy in grand style. Poesia is a big, explosive Saint-Émilion, but it also possesses tremendous energy. Dark fruit, gravel, incense, spice and saddle leather open with a bit of coaxing. There is an exotic quality to Poesia in 2019 that is especially alluring. Brilliant." -Antonio Galloni Newsletter Special - $38.99* *Best Online Price in the Country!
